CLINTON — A 44-year-old woman was arrested for operating under the influence after her vehicle struck a power pole and ended up in a ditch on Mutton Lane, police said.

Officer Julian Lamontagne, along with Clinton Fire Rescue, responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 11:40 a.m. on June 13.

They discovered Lindsay Shapiro, the sole occupant of a silver sedan, had veered off the road and caused a power outage by tripping a breaker.

Upon their arrival, members of the fire rescue team interacted with Shapiro and informed Officer Lamontagne that she seemed intoxicated.

Officer Joshua Chouinard conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which Shapiro failed, leading to her arrest.

Shapiro underwent an intoxilyzer test, which showed her blood alcohol concentration was .23, nearly three times the legal limit of .08.

After being charged with OUI, Shapiro was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.

She was released on bail following a period of sobriety.
