Brattleboro man charged with second-degree murder in stabbing

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Police Department has arrested 19-year-old Lavadus Williams in connection with a fatal stabbing at the Brattleboro Transportation Center on Flat Street.

At approximately 10:47 p.m. on June 20, police were called to the scene at 77 Flat Street where they found a victim with stab wounds.

The Brattleboro Fire Department’s EMS attempted life-saving measures before transporting the individual to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead.

Williams, a Brattleboro resident, has been charged with second-degree murder following the incident.

He was taken to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing and appeared in Windham County Superior Court this afternoon.

The Brattleboro Police had previously identified a suspect, who was at large following the stabbing.

The department has now confirmed Williams’s arrest but has not released the identity of the victim, citing ongoing investigations.

Authorities are still gathering information and have encouraged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Brattleboro Police Department.
