Officers responded to the area of 56 Richfield Street for a report of a person with a gun.

Boston Police Operations advised the call had been updated to shots fired and provided a description of a suspect.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect running towards Bowdoin Street.

They lost sight of the suspect but later observed him walking from the rear of 36 Norton Street.

As officers approached, a second male asked in Cape Verdean-Creole, “where did you put it?”.

An officer fluent in Cape Verdean-Creole began to canvass the area.

Officers located a firearm and immediately placed Pires into handcuffs.

A crowd began to cause a disturbance near the arrest.

Officers then observed a male walking towards a parked car at 30 Norton Street and found a bag with a firearm behind the driver’s side wheel.

The individual was placed into handcuffs.

The firearms were identified as a Glock 19 with one round in the chamber and twenty-two rounds in the magazine, and a Black FN FNS-9 with one round in the chamber and sixteen rounds in the magazine.

Both suspects were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and trespassing.

They are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
