BEDFORD — Three people were hospitalized following a head-on collision at the Bedford Toll Plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike this morning, June 18.

At about 10:15 a.m., New Hampshire State Troopers from the Troop B barracks responded to a crash where they discovered two vehicles had collided within an E-ZPass lane.

According to the authorities, a maroon Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Scott Wein, 48, of Loudon, was traveling southbound when it crossed the median into the northbound lanes and struck a white BMW X3 head-on.

Wein, along with the BMW’s occupants, Peter Kemeny, 68, and Daphna Vermes, 67, both from Quebec, Canada, sustained significant injuries.

They were transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment.

No injuries were reported among toll plaza staff.

The scene saw a coordinated response from the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit, Bedford Fire Department personnel, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

Traffic was disrupted in both directions, with several lanes closed, until the site was cleared and lanes reopened by 3:30 p.m.

The crash is currently under investigation.
