SWANTON — A traffic stop led to a juvenile being cited for reckless driving after a series of traffic violations on June 16, Swanton Village Police reported.

At approximately 4:34 p.m., Officer Kalb observed a large cloud of dust in the parking lot behind the Swanton Recreation field, an area that has seen multiple complaints about vehicles performing burnouts and donuts.

The vehicle quickly left the scene at a high rate of speed when approached.

According to the police report, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Jewett Street and Grand Avenue.

Continuing southbound on Grand Avenue, the vehicle illegally passed another car on the right and made a wide turn onto Bushey Street, during which it destroyed a road sign and a mailbox.

The vehicle did not stop at the intersection of Robin Hood Drive, nearly hitting two pedestrians, before finally coming to a stop in front of 37 Bushey Street.

The driver, a juvenile, was transported, processed, and issued a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court Family Division on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

Due to the involvement of juveniles, the police have not released any names.

Officer Kalb is the investigating officer and can be reached at 802-868-4100 for further information.
