NEWPORT — A local woman was arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a disturbance at North Country Hospital, according to Newport Police Chief Travis Bingham.

Kiana M. Badan, 27, of Newport, faces charges including assault of a protected professional, disorderly conduct, and unlawful trespass after an incident early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the hospital around 12:16 a.m. on June 19 after receiving reports of a woman who was refusing to leave the premises, harassing patients, and had assaulted a member of the nursing staff.

The woman, identified as Badan, had earlier been discharged from the Emergency Department but returned and caused a commotion in the lobby.

Badan was taken into custody without incident.

She is known to local authorities and has outstanding warrants for her failure to appear in court on previous theft and drug charges.

Currently, Badan is being held at the Northern State Correctional Facility, unable to post the $200 bail set.

She is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday afternoon at the Orleans County Criminal Court.
