Fairfield man arrested for burglary at local auto repair shop

EAST FAIRFIELD — A Fairfield man was arrested early this morning for attempting to burglarize Stone’s Auto Repair, according to state police.

Troopers responded to the scene at 1:13 a.m. after being alerted to a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, they found the front door glass shattered and a man inside the premises.

Derek Jettie, 31, was identified by the store owner, who was present during the incident.

Jettie had reportedly used a sledgehammer to gain entry and was in the process of stealing a significant quantity of cigarettes.

The suspect was apprehended without further incident and, following a court order, Jettie was lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.

He is currently being held on $5,000 bail.
