Boston police arrest armed robbery suspect in Dorchester

BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a man early Wednesday morning in connection with an armed robbery in Dorchester.

At about 12:36 a.m., on June 19, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call at 535 Columbia Road.

The suspect, identified as Jose Ramirez-Martinez, 38, of Dorchester, allegedly pointed a firearm at a victim and demanded money, stealing approximately $140 before assaulting the victim with the weapon.

Boston EMS provided medical assistance at the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Following a description provided by witnesses, officers located an individual matching the suspect’s description at 471 Columbia Road.

Ramirez-Martinez surrendered without incident as officers approached and was positively identified as the assailant.

He was placed under arrest and charged with armed robbery.

Ramirez-Martinez is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
