SPRINGFIELD — In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, five men were arrested on June 18 after Vermont State Police and federal agents stormed a Reed Street residence as part of a months-long drug investigation.

The Vermont State Police, alongside members of the FBI, Springfield Police Department, and other agencies, executed a search warrant at 37 Reed St., leading to the arrests of Michael Spaulding, 50; Jesse Morey, 31; Douglas Marsh, 54; Gianni Gamble, 22; and Joshua Garcia, 25.

The operation was the culmination of an extensive investigation into the distribution of fentanyl and cocaine from the Springfield location.

Detectives with the Vermont Drug Task Force used confidential informants to purchase drugs from the suspects, with Spaulding and Morey selling fentanyl and Morey and Marsh selling cocaine on separate occasions.

Marsh, who had active arrest warrants for unrelated offenses, including possession of heroin and stolen property, was arrested with bail set at $1,000.

During the raid, authorities recovered over 10,000 bags of fentanyl, more than 9 ounces of cocaine base, and 52 grams of crack cocaine.

Two handguns were also seized, one reported stolen from New Hampshire.

Gamble, a prohibited person, faces additional firearm possession charges.

The suspects were processed at the Westminster State Police Barracks before being held at the Southern State Correctional Facility.

Bail was set at $50,000 for Gamble, $25,000 each for Garcia and Morey, $15,000 for Marsh, and $5,000 for Spaulding.

Spaulding, Morey, Marsh, Garcia, and Gamble are scheduled to appear in court at 12:30 p.m. on June 19 at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in White River Junction.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Windsor County State’s Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.

Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Vermont State Police or submit a tip anonymously online.

The affidavits of probable cause will be released following the arraignment.
