SOUTH BURLINGTON — A 54-year-old man from Grand Isle was arrested Tuesday evening after reportedly walking in traffic lanes and brandishing a firearm on Interstate 89, causing a traffic standstill.

Vermont State Police responded to multiple calls at about 5:38 p.m. regarding a male pedestrian away from a disabled vehicle on I-89 South near mile marker 86.4.

The man, identified as William Larrow, was allegedly obstructing vehicles and waving a firearm, leading to halted traffic.

Upon arrival, troopers located Larrow and took him into custody without further incident.

He was issued a citation to appear at the Chittenden County Superior Court to face charges of Disorderly Conduct.

The incident led to significant delays on the interstate as authorities worked to clear the scene.

The Vermont State Police have not released further details about what led to Larrow’s actions or if any additional charges will be filed.
