Salem police seize over 700 grams of narcotics, arrest one

SALEM — A significant drug bust on June 12 led to the seizure of various narcotics and the arrest of a Salem man, according to local authorities.

The Salem Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the Peabody Police Department CID, carried out a search warrant at an apartment on Traders Way which resulted in the confiscation of 624 grams of cocaine, 64 grams of fentanyl, 9 grams of crack cocaine, 3 grams of methamphetamine, and over $30,000 in cash.

Dewin Manuel Diaz, 30, was apprehended at the scene without incident.

Diaz faces multiple drug trafficking and possession charges, including Trafficking in Heroin, Class A, over 36 grams, Trafficking in Cocaine, Class B, over 200 grams, and Possession to Distribute Methamphetamine.

The operation marks a significant crackdown on drug activities in the region, with authorities remaining vigilant against the distribution of illegal substances.

Diaz is currently being held while awaiting further legal proceedings.

Salem Police Department has not released additional details about the investigation at this time.
