KINGSTON — A man with a history of violence and numerous warrants was arrested yesterday following a crime spree that ended with a dramatic foot chase across Route 3, according to Kingston Police Department.

Late yesterday afternoon, Kingston Police responded to 911 calls about a male suspect stealing from employee purses at Carmela’s restaurant.

The man fled the scene when confronted by staff, prompting a search with assistance from K-9 units from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.

Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Shawn Badejo of Plymouth, who had multiple outstanding warrants and was known to have a significant history of serious violent crimes.

Despite an initial unsuccessful search of a nearby residence associated with Badejo, officers continued their pursuit.

The suspect was later spotted at Sunshine Liquors, where he again fled from authorities, this time on a stolen bicycle.

A broken window at another local home hinted at Badejo’s continued evasion.

The chase escalated as Badejo ran across Main Street and onto Route 3, hurdling barriers and traversing all four traffic lanes.

With officers and deputies converging from multiple directions, the suspect was apprehended in the Baymont Inn Hotel parking lot without the use of force.

The arrest concluded a several-hour operation that spanned the 100-200 block of Main Street, including Route 3’s Exit 18.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Badejo now faces new charges including attempted larceny, breaking and entering, and resisting arrest, in addition to the six warrants for previous offenses such as vehicle theft, property damage, and drug possession.

After a positive identification by victims, Badejo was taken before the court this morning.
