MANCHESTER — A rollover crash on Interstate 293 sent three people to the hospital and led to the arrest of the driver on Sunday evening.

State Troopers from the Troop B barracks were called to the northbound lanes of I-293 near the Exit 5 Granite Street overpass just before 8 p.m. on June 16 following reports of a single-vehicle rollover accident.

A BMW SUV, driven by 36-year-old Barnaba Madol of Manchester, was traveling southbound when it veered into the center median, flipped over, and slid on its roof across the northbound lanes, witnesses told investigators.

Madol, who was partially ejected through the sunroof during the crash, was extricated by the Manchester Fire Department.

He sustained serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and was taken to Elliott Hospital.

The two female passengers in the vehicle with him received minor injuries and were transported to Catholic Medical Center.

Authorities discovered Madol was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

He has been summonsed to appear in court later this summer, and additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

The accident caused all northbound lanes of I-293 to be closed for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.
