Mansfield shooting leads to arrest after standoff

MANSFIELD — A walk-in to the Mansfield Police Department lobby reported being shot at while attempting to enter the Public Safety building parking lot around 11:50 p.m. on June 14, authorities said.

An officer outside the station heard the gunshot, prompting an immediate investigation by the Patrol division and Mansfield Police Department (MPD) Detectives.

The investigation quickly led to the identification of a suspect and associated vehicle, which was found outside the suspect’s residence at 23 Erick Road.

As detectives secured search warrants from the Attleboro District Court, the MetroLEC Special Tactics and Response unit, including the Crisis Negotiation Team, was called in to assist.

With the warrants in hand, officers attempted to contact the suspect.

After negotiations, the individual surrendered peacefully.

Following the arrest, MPD Detectives executed the search warrant at the residence.

Additional information about the suspect and the shooting incident will be disclosed after the arraignment.
