BOSTON — Two individuals were taken into custody and a firearm was seized following a traffic stop in Dorchester, as announced by the Boston Police Department.

The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, when officers from District B-3 patrolling near Blue Hill Ave. and Harvard St. noticed a Toyota Corolla with excessively dark window tints.

Upon initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of Blue Hill Ave. and Paxton St., the officers approached the vehicle and interacted with the occupants.

The driver, identified as Quiana Bradley-Smith, 26, of Lynn, provided a driver’s license which was found to be suspended upon a subsequent check.

Meanwhile, officers noted suspicious behavior from the rear passenger, Kyle Lee, 33, of Mattapan, suggesting he might be armed.

A further investigation led to the discovery of a knife on Lee’s person and a Glock 29 Gen 4 10mm auto handgun under the front passenger seat, loaded with one round in the chamber and a 15-round magazine.

Detectives from B-3 responded to the scene and confirmed the details of the firearm.

Bradley-Smith was arrested and is slated for arraignment in Dorchester District Court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, in addition to receiving a citation for nontransparent window obstruction.

Lee faces multiple charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm and ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a firearm with prior violent and/or drug offenses.

Both individuals are currently awaiting their court proceedings.
