STANDISH — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a head-on collision early Thursday morning that left two men injured.

At 6:39 a.m., the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident at 450 Whites Bridge Road.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find a black Dodge Ram pickup truck and a red Ford F350 with significant damage.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Kevin Tibbets, 39, of Poland, fell asleep at the wheel of the Dodge Ram and crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with the Ford F350 driven by Marc Senechal, 69, of Standish.

Both drivers were transported to Maine Medical Center by Standish Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.

The area around the crash site was temporarily closed for emergency care and vehicle removal.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident, noting that alcohol and drugs may have been contributing factors.

Authorities remind drivers to operate vehicles sober and extend their gratitude to the Standish Fire Department for their aid at the scene.
