Newark man charged with domestic assault, cruelty to child

NEWARK — Vermont State Police arrested a local man early Wednesday morning on allegations of domestic violence and child cruelty.

Authorities responded to a call at approximately 7:57 a.m. on East Hill Road where they conducted an investigation into the reported incident.

Logan Thompson, 24, of Newark, is accused of assaulting two individuals in the household, one of whom is a minor under the age of 10.

Following the incident, Thompson was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks for processing.

He was later arraigned at the Caledonia County Superior Court.

In accordance with their policy, the Vermont State Police has not released the names of the victims involved in this case.

Further details surrounding the circumstances of the assault have not been disclosed as the investigation is ongoing.
