Springfield man faces multiple charges after vehicle theft leads to pursuit

SPRINGFIELD — A man has been apprehended and faces multiple charges following a vehicle theft and subsequent police chase that began early morning in Springfield.

According to the Springfield Police Department, the incident began when a report was filed about a stolen vehicle from the Circle K gas station at 14 Missing Link Road.

Despite immediate searches and alerts to nearby agencies, the vehicle initially evaded recovery.

Later that afternoon, Weathersfield Police Officer Franchi spotted the vehicle on Vermont Route 106.

Attempts to stop the vehicle led to a brief chase, ending with the suspect, identified as Stephen Loewe, fleeing on foot before being detained.

Loewe is set to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on July 30 to face charges including Aggravated Operation without Owners Consent.

Additional charges by Weathersfield PD include Possession of Stolen Property, Gross Negligent Operation, Eluding, Unlawful Restraint, and Excessive Speed.
