Norwalk police arrest suspect in marina burglary spree

NORWALK — Police arrested a 19-year-old man on Tuesday in connection with a series of burglaries at local marinas, authorities said.

Christopher McClain of Redding is accused of climbing a fence at Cove Marina on May 17 to access the docks, where he and an accomplice allegedly broke into two boats and stole tools and alcohol.

Norwalk Police, working with Fairfield Police who had reported a similar incident, were able to identify McClain through surveillance footage and the vehicle used during the crimes.

McClain was taken into custody at his residence at around 5:40 p.m. without incident, said Sgt.

Ryan Evarts, a public information officer with the Norwalk Police Department.

The suspect faces charges of burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass in the third degree, and larceny in the fifth degree.

He is being held on a $25,000 court-set bond and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Court on June 25.
