Driver charged with negligent operation for speeding on Interstate 91 in Westminster

WESTMINSTER — Troopers with the Vermont State Police conducting speed enforcement on Interstate 91 on June 11 caught a motorist traveling at a high rate of speed, clocking him at 103 mph in a 65 mph zone.

The vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Thomas Abare of Westminster, was stopped without incident around 4:24 p.m. near mile marker 25.

Authorities had also received complaints about the vehicle being driven erratically prior to the stop.

Abare is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on July 30 at 8:30 a.m.

In addition to the citation for negligent operation, he received a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for speeding, which carries a waiver fine of $572.
