SOUTH WINDSOR — A local man was arrested Monday morning for operating a vehicle under the influence and later, in an unrelated incident, another man was charged with disorderly conduct, police said.
Richmond Okyere, 32, of South Windsor, was taken into custody after a South Windsor Police Department officer found him asleep at the wheel on Route 5 near New England Silica.
The incident occurred at 5:34 a.m., according to the police report.
After failing sobriety tests, Okyere was charged with operating under the influence and operating under suspension.
He was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 26 at 9 a.m.
In a separate event early Tuesday, Rui P. Pina, 50, also of South Windsor, was arrested at 1:15 a.m. following a domestic violence report.
Pina allegedly grabbed and pushed one victim down the stairs and threatened to strangle another.
Pina was issued a misdemeanor summons for disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree.
He is expected to appear in Manchester Superior Court later the same day at 9 a.m.
