MERRIMACK — A Nashua woman was arrested Wednesday evening after being involved in a motor vehicle accident on Tinker Rd and allegedly fleeing the scene while impaired, Merrimack Police reported.
The incident occurred at 5:51 p.m. when Merrimack Police were alerted to a hit-and-run.
The other party involved in the accident followed the fleeing vehicle and updated the police on its location.
Officers subsequently located the vehicle on Continental Blvd.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old America Alcaraz of Nashua, displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was apprehended by the police.
Alcaraz was taken to Merrimack Police Department for processing.
Investigations revealed that Alcaraz had attempted to unlawfully pass another vehicle on Tinker Rd, resulting in a sideswipe collision before leaving the scene.
She continued driving, eventually pulling into a driveway on Peaslee Rd where she struck a rock wall and again left the scene.
Alcaraz’s breath alcohol concentration was found to be more than twice the legal limit.
She faces charges including Disobeying a Police Officer, Conduct After an Accident, Aggravated DWI, DWI, and Reckless Driving.
She is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Merrimack District Court on June 27 to respond to these charges.
