Driver charged with DUI, drug possession after Exeter crash

EXETER — A Saugus, Massachusetts man faces multiple felony drug possession charges and a charge of driving under the influence following a single-car crash early June 10.

Exeter Police and Fire personnel responded to the accident on Epping Road at approximately 5:47 a.m. A 2011 Ford Escape was found with severe front-end damage after hitting a utility pole head-on.

Prior to the crash, witnesses reported the vehicle was seen driving erratically, veering into the opposite lane.

The vehicle, traveling outbound, crossed into oncoming traffic before striking the pole.

Exeter Police officers who investigated the scene determined there was probable cause to arrest the driver for DUI.

Mario J. Antimone, 46, of Saugus, Massachusetts, was taken into custody.

Following his arrest, Antimone was transported by Exeter Fire and Rescue to Exeter Hospital.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear at the Brentwood District Court.

Antimone is facing five counts of felony B possession of a controlled drug, misdemeanor B charges for DUI and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia pipes, which are violations.
