Boston police arrest suspect, recover firearm after gunfire in Boston Common

BOSTON — Boston Police officers recovered a firearm and arrested a suspect following the sound of gunshots in Boston Common late Monday night.

At about 10:05 p.m., on June 10, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were patrolling near Tremont St. and Winter St. when they heard gunshots originating from within the park.

As people fled the area, the officers entered the Common and spotted a suspicious individual running and clutching their waistband.

Despite commands to stop, the suspect fled, leading to a foot chase during which the individual discarded a firearm.

The suspect, identified as Dana Loder, 30, of Lynnfield, was apprehended near 131 Tremont St. Shortly after Loder’s arrest, a gunshot victim with life-threatening injuries was found inside the park.

Boston EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.

Loder is set to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on multiple charges, including Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License (2nd Offense), Carrying a Firearm without a License (2nd Offense), Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Possession of a Class B Drug (Crack Cocaine).
