WESTMINSTER — A Bellows Falls man was cited for driving at nearly twice the posted speed limit on Interstate 91, Vermont State Police said.
Ryan Bashaw, 21, was observed by troopers traveling northbound on I-91 near mile marker 26 at a high rate of speed at about 4:07 p.m. Monday.
Radar confirmed Bashaw’s speed at 117 mph in a 65 mph zone.
A traffic stop was conducted and Bashaw was identified by his Vermont driver’s license.
He was issued a citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on July 16 at 8:30 a.m. to answer the charge of Excessive Speed.
Additionally, Bashaw received a VCVC ticket for the offense.
State Police remind motorists that speeding greatly increases the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a collision and urge drivers to adhere to posted speed limits.
