Lake Memphremagog event to feature live music, local food trucks on June 25

NEWPORT — The 2nd Annual Celebrate Lake Memphremagog event, sponsored by Don’t Undermine Memphremagog’s Purity, will take place on Tuesday, June 25, at the Eastside restaurant on Lake Memphremagog in Newport.

The event aims to bring together the international lake communities and honor the significance of the lake, often referred to as the Crown Jewel of the Northeast Kingdom.

The celebration will feature live music by the Mike Goudreau Band, which includes Eastern Township’s guitar hero Mike Goudreau and some of the Northeast Kingdom’s finest musicians, including Gary Matthews on bass, Gabe Jarrett on drums, and Matt Dolliver on saxophone. The band will play from 6-9 p.m., keeping attendees dancing throughout the evening.

Favorite food trucks, Smokin’ Blue Devil and Runaway Tomato, will kick off the event from 5-8 p.m., offering delicious fare for all to enjoy.

Organizer Henry Coe emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “People care about Lake Memphremagog, for its unmatched beauty and for the fantastic recreational opportunity it provides, and as a cornerstone of our local economies. Every effort to protect the lake contributes to the quality of life for all of us, locals and visitors alike. Last year’s celebration was a huge success, one worth repeating.”
