RANDOLPH — A couple from Dover, New Hampshire, was transported to Gifford Medical Center with minor injuries after their vehicle hydroplaned and crashed on Interstate 89 on June 6.
At approximately 10:04 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle accident near Mile Marker 26.9 on Interstate 89 North.
Heavy rain had created hazardous road conditions with standing water reported on the road surface.
Stephen Drummey, 32, was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra with Elizabeth Drummey, 30, as a passenger when their car hydroplaned and struck a guard rail.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The White River Valley Ambulance Service and the Randolph Fire Department arrived on the scene to assist.
The vehicle sustained significant damage and was declared totalled.
State troopers are investigating the crash, reminding drivers to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions.
