LOWELL — Thanks to the vigilance of a local resident, an individual caught illegally dumping trash in the Back Central neighborhood may face fines over $1,000.
The Lowell Police Department (LPD) reported that a call from the concerned citizen, who witnessed the act and noted the license plate number of the vehicle involved, allowed the Neighborhood Response Unit to follow up on the initial Patrol Officer’s report.
The detailed information provided by the resident led to the identification of the offender.
The LPD praised the community’s role in assisting law enforcement, stating, “Our community is our eyes and ears.” They encourage anyone who witnesses illegal dumping to report it to the police and provide as much detail as possible to aid in the investigation and enforcement efforts.
The LPD’s announcement serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of local neighborhoods.
