SCITUATE — The Scituate Emergency Communications Center received a report of an active fire in the attic of a home on Salt Meadow Lane today at approximately 12:15 p.m.
The homeowner alerted authorities and confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the premises.
The Scituate Police and Fire Departments were immediately dispatched to the scene, where first responders observed heavy smoke and flames emerging from the roof of the single-family residence.
Due to the intensity of the fire, the incident was escalated to a second alarm.
Additional fire crews from neighboring towns, including Marshfield, Norwell, and Cohasset, were called to assist in battling the blaze.
As of now, there have been no injuries reported.
Officials are urging the public to steer clear of Neal Gate Street and Salt Meadow Lane to allow emergency crews to perform their duties effectively.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
