State police K9 locates suspect wanted for vehicle theft

NASHUA — At approximately 1 a.m. today, Thursday, May 30, State Troopers from the Troop B barracks responded to a call about a disabled vehicle on the F.E. Everett Turnpike near Exit 2.

Trooper Perciballi was dispatched to the scene to assist the vehicle’s occupants.

During the interaction, a man fled after being questioned about his identity.

Trooper Perciballi identified the man as 42-year-old Richard Kopycinski of Lowell, Massachusetts.

Investigations revealed that Kopycinski had an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft from Plaistow.

State Troopers initiated a search for Kopycinski and deployed a K9 team.

The K9 successfully tracked him down within about 30 minutes.

Upon being located by the K9, Kopycinski surrendered and was apprehended without further incident.

Kopycinski is currently being held on preventative detention at Valley Street Jail and is scheduled for an arraignment later today.
