WESTPORT — A Bridgeport resident was arrested on May 29 in connection with a brazen jewelry store burglary earlier in the month, the Westport Police Department announced.
Javon Thorbourne, 30, faces multiple charges including first-degree larceny and criminal mischief after the Westport Police Detective Bureau, with assistance from local law enforcement and the U.S.
Marshals Service, identified him as a suspect in the May 9 smash and grab at Lux, Bond, and Green.
Thorbourne was arrested at Stamford Superior Court where he was being held for unrelated charges.
He was arraigned with a bond set at $250,000.
The initial incident took place around 3:10 p.m. at the Main Street jeweler, where two masked individuals armed with sledgehammers shattered display cases and made off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.
They were last seen escaping in a black BMW sedan.
The ongoing investigation suggests further arrests are expected.
Chief Foti Koskinas commended the Detective Bureau for their efforts and expressed gratitude to the agencies that contributed to the case.
