POWNAL — Elizah Coppedge, 18, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, has been taken into custody in South Carolina as a fugitive from justice in connection with a Feb. 6 stabbing death in Pownal.
Coppedge is being held at the Greenwood County Detention Center in Greenwood, South Carolina, according to jail records.
He is wanted in Vermont on a warrant for second-degree murder for the death of 36-year-old Casey Gras of Bennington.
The Greenwood City Police Department arrested Coppedge on May 19.
He is expected to remain in South Carolina custody pending extradition proceedings to face the murder charge in Vermont.
