PORTSMOUTH — A local man has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division.
Stephen Farrea, 34, of 37 Souza Way, was taken into custody on May 24 after detectives executed a search warrant at his residence on April 12.
The search, which resulted from a tip indicating Farrea might be involved in illegal activities, led to the seizure of numerous electronic devices.
Forensic analysis of the devices found that Farrea had images depicting sexually explicit conduct involving minors.
Following the discovery, authorities obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Farrea was arraigned at the 2nd Division District Court on one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
His bail was set at $5,000 with surety.
