BANGOR — A traffic stop on Interstate 95 led to the arrest of three individuals for drug trafficking and firearms possession, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At approximately 4:50 p.m. on May 25, a deputy sheriff from Penobscot County stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on I-95 in Orono.
The officer recognized 49-year-old Tara Culpovich of Milford, who had previously been arrested for Unlawful Trafficking of Schedule W Drugs and was not allowed to have contact with 48-year-old Robert Moreau, who was also wanted on the same charge.
The vehicle was operated by 40-year-old Paul Dolhancryk of Enfield, who was out on bail for seven different sets of charges at the time of the stop.
Upon investigation, deputies found 3.1 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine, a Glock 9mm handgun, a .22 revolver, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, and other items related to drug trafficking.
Dolhancryk was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Trafficking of Schedule W Drugs (Felony Class A), Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Misdemeanor Class D), and Violation of Conditional Release (Misdemeanor Class E).
Culpovich and Moreau were charged with Unlawful Trafficking of Schedule W Drugs (Felony Class B) and Violation of Conditional Release (Misdemeanor Class E).
Following the arrests, deputies executed a second search warrant at 32 Pine Street in Milford on May 26 at 8:40 p.m. and discovered additional evidence of drug trafficking.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office has stated that this remains an active investigation.
