AUBURN — A fatal traffic crash between a car and a motorcycle claimed the life of a motorcyclist earlier this evening, according to the Auburn Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:32 p.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Witham Road.
Authorities reported that a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle was attempting to enter South Main Street from Witham Road when it collided with a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle.
Witnesses at the scene provided immediate medical assistance to the motorcycle operator, but despite their efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The occupants of the Volkswagen sustained no serious injuries in the incident.
The intersection was closed for several hours as the Auburn Police and Fire Departments worked to reconstruct the accident.
