MALDEN — A police officer discharged their firearm during a disturbance call on May 22, striking a male who was then hospitalized, authorities said.
Malden Police Dispatch reported multiple calls about a disturbance at 260 Eastern Ave. on Wednesday.
Officers responding to the scene became involved in an altercation with a male, leading to the shooting.
First aid was administered on the spot, and the injured man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials have stated there is no threat to public safety, as all individuals connected to the incident remained at the scene.
The Malden Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Office of the Middlesex District Attorney are conducting an active investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
