Worcester man charged with assault after knife altercation

WORCESTER — A man was arrested on Saturday evening for allegedly assaulting another man with a knife on Millbury Street.

According to the Worcester Police Department, officers responded to a call at about 5:32 p.m. regarding an assault with a dangerous weapon.

The victim claimed he was approached and threatened by a man after stepping outside his workplace.

Following a brief verbal dispute, the suspect walked away, but the confrontation escalated when they encountered each other again outside a nearby convenience store.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Donnell Blocker of Worcester, allegedly brandished a knife, prompting the victim to draw his own knife in defense.

An investigation led to the apprehension of Blocker who was found carrying a knife that matched the victim’s description.

Blocker faces charges for assault with a dangerous weapon, threats to commit a crime, and possession of a per se dangerous weapon.

The incident did not result in any injuries, and both parties were separated without further violence.
