CHICOPEE — A narcotics investigation by the Chicopee Police Department and the FBI’s Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force culminated in the arrest of two individuals on drug and firearms charges after a search warrant was executed at a local residence on May 3.
Otis Collins, 48, and Marie Lopez, 42, both of Chicopee, turned themselves in following the raid that uncovered several firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and a significant sum of U.S. currency at the property they resided in.
Collins and Lopez were not present during the initial search.
The investigation revealed that Collins was allegedly selling cocaine from the residence, leading to the seizure and subsequent charges.
Collins faces multiple counts, including trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Class A and E drugs, and numerous firearms offenses, such as possession of large capacity firearms and improper storage of firearms near a minor.
Lopez was arrested on similar grounds, charged with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and several counts related to the unlawful possession and improper storage of firearms.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact amount of narcotics or currency seized.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
Both suspects are awaiting arraignment, and the dates for their court appearances have yet to be announced.
