RICHFORD — A local man faces legal repercussions following an altercation that resulted in an assault charge, Vermont State Police reported.
The incident occurred on May 3 at around 10 p.m. on Main Street.
Authorities identified the accused as Shane Vincelette, 33, of Richford.
The victim, Ronald Smith, 35, hails from Swanton.
According to the police report, Vincelette assaulted Smith late Wednesday.
The circumstances surrounding the assault were not immediately clear, but the police acted on the notification swiftly.
Vincelette was subsequently located and received a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
He is scheduled to face the charge of simple assault on June 17 at 1 p.m.
The Vermont State Police are continuing their investigation into the events leading up to the incident.
