NEWPORT — North Country Career Center (NCCC) is celebrating the outstanding performance of its Animal & Environmental Systems Science FFA students at the 2024 Vermont Envirothon.
Under the guidance of instructor Emily Dehoff, both NCCC teams secured the top two spots in the competition, with the first-place team being the only all-female team in the event.
The teams showcased their exceptional knowledge and skills, particularly excelling in the oral presentation segment, where they addressed the topic of “Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future.”
Their hard work and dedication paid off, as they not only achieved academic success but also received the prestigious Virginia Collins Team Spirit Award, which recognizes the team that best embodies kindness, enthusiasm, proper conduct, and professional behavior.
NCCC expressed gratitude to everyone who supported and helped prepare the students for the competition, with special thanks given to Ben Leskey from Green Mountain Farm to School for his invaluable guidance and support.
The NCF-Envirothon, an annual environmentally themed academic competition organized by the National Conservation Foundation, serves as a platform for high school students to demonstrate their environmental knowledge and engage in meaningful discussions about sustainability and conservation.
Emily Dehoff and the students were congratulated for their hard work and dedication, with NCCC expressing immense pride in their achievements and the positive example they set for their peers.
