MILFORD — A vehicle carrying three individuals careened off an I-95 entrance last night, prompting a swift and complex rescue operation by the Milford Fire Department.
The incident occurred at 10:33 p.m. near the North Bound Exit/Entrance 39 B.
Fire crews arrived to discover a sedan that had plunged down the embankment and deep into the surrounding woods.
To reach the vehicle, firefighters had to cut through trees and brush to forge a path.
Two of the vehicle’s occupants managed to self-extricate prior to the arrival of the rescue teams.
However, one person remained trapped inside.
While working to free the individual, emergency responders simultaneously provided Advanced Life Support inside the crumpled car.
The trapped occupant was eventually extricated, secured into a stokes basket, and carried out of the wooded area.
They were then transported to a local trauma center in serious condition.
The other two occupants were also taken to area hospitals for treatment.
The Milford Fire Department has not released any further information regarding the cause of the accident or the current condition of the occupants.
