DOVER — The Dover Police Department is conducting an investigation into thefts from motor vehicles that occurred on Sunday, May 12.

The police department received two reports of thefts at the Longhill Dog Park, located at 42 Longhill Road, Dover.

In both incidents, victims reported that wallets were stolen, which contained identification cards, checks, credit and debit cards, and other personal information.

During one of the thefts, the suspect smashed the vehicle’s window to gain access.

The suspects were reportedly driving a dark blue sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, displaying a vanity plate with some variation of “TR SLAYER” or “T1RESLYR.”

It is believed that the perpetrators are part of an out-of-state organized crime group known for “smash and grab” thefts with the intent of stealing personal and banking information to commit financial frauds.

Thefts of this nature typically occur at gyms, recreation areas, or other locations where citizens leave their purse or bag in the vehicle for a brief time.
