WORCESTER — A woman was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly committing an armed robbery with a box cutter in downtown Worcester, police said.
At approximately 8:50 a.m., Worcester Police officers responded to a call on Mechanic St regarding an assault involving a weapon.
A female victim reported that while she parked her car in a local garage, she was approached by another woman, later identified as 28-year-old Jades Rivera of Berkeley St.
According to authorities, Rivera brandished a box cutter and demanded the victim’s phone.
The victim fled, initiating a chase during which she sustained scratches from Rivera’s fingernails.
The pursuit ended when the victim found refuge in a nearby public place and alerted others to the incident.
Responding officers detained Rivera at the scene, where they found and confiscated a box cutter.
Rivera has been charged with armed robbery and assault and battery.
Additionally, officers discovered she had an outstanding arrest warrant.
Rivera is currently being held pending her arraignment.
