NEWPORT — A community forum will be held at the City Hall Gymnasium on May 13 at 5:30 p.m., featuring a series of discussions on financial matters, economic development, and community safety. The event will be hosted by Senator Russ Ingalls and Mayor Linda Joy Sullivan, with City Manager Jonathan DeLaBruere moderating.
Vermont State Treasurer Mike Pieciak is set to lead a financial discussion, aiming to address current and future fiscal policies. Following Pieciak, a panel from the NEKIA Task Force will explore economic development in Newport, focusing on the strategic role of the local airport in regional growth.
The forum will also highlight urban planning efforts by the Newport Downtown Development, which plans to unveil new initiatives aimed at revitalizing the city’s core. Additionally, a diverse panel including council members and the local police chief will discuss the infrastructure and space needed to enhance public safety in Newport.
The event, which is open to public interaction and will be filmed by NEKTV, encourages community members to participate actively and voice their concerns and suggestions.
