Single-vehicle crash in Hudson leaves man seriously injured

HUDSON — A 30-year-old Taunton man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, according to the Hudson Police Department.

The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. when a Toyota RAV4 reportedly veered off the roadway and collided with a signal pole on Washington Street, near Giasson Street.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Chief Richard P. DiPersio stated that the preliminary investigation indicates the man had been at a party in Hudson before the incident.

An attendee at the party contacted the police, after which the driver allegedly fled.

Officers pursued the vehicle briefly but terminated the chase before the crash occurred.

The Hudson Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

No further details have been released at this time.
