SHERBORN — A Natick man was placed under arrest late Saturday night after his car veered off the road and became lodged atop a guardrail, according to the Sherborn Police Department.
The incident, which occurred just before 11:45 p.m., prompted authorities to remind the public about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failing to stay within marked lanes.
Officials reported that the car drove onto the shoulder, struck the guardrail, and ruptured the fuel tank, leaving the vehicle precariously propped up.
Law enforcement expressed relief that no other vehicles were involved and noted that the situation could have been far more dire had a spark ignited from the impact.
Police are using this incident as a cautionary tale, urging those who choose to drink to do so responsibly and avoid getting behind the wheel.
The Natick man is currently being held and awaits arraignment.
