WINDSOR LOCKS — Three suspects linked to a series of commercial burglaries in the Hartford area were arrested in Delaware on April 25 after a police pursuit that began in Pennsylvania.
Nicholas Provencher, Ashley Mercey, and Matthew West were taken into custody by the New Castle County Sheriff’s Office following the chase, which ended when the suspects crashed the stolen vehicle they were driving.
Windsor Locks Police Department had identified the trio as suspects in recent overnight burglaries, with the latest incidents reported in East Windsor and Windsor Locks.
On April 19, Windsor Locks detectives attempted to apprehend the suspects in Hartford after spotting them in another stolen vehicle.
However, due to Connecticut’s restrictive pursuit policy, the suspects managed to evade capture and were later seen in Camden, New Jersey.
Detectives from Windsor Locks traveled to Delaware on Thursday morning to serve a DNA search warrant on Provencher, who has a significant criminal record in Connecticut, including multiple arrests and convictions for burglaries and larcenies.
He was released from jail earlier this year.
Mercey and West are wanted on multiple active PRAWN warrants in Connecticut for failure to appear in court and violation of probation.
Currently, Provencher, Mercey, and West are being held in New Castle County on charges of fugitive from justice from Pennsylvania, with burglary charges in Connecticut pending.
