Lake Region honor student, athlete nominated to prestigious medical congress

NEWPORT — Xaviar Chapdelaine, an eleventh-grader at Lake Region Union High School, has been nominated to attend the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, set to take place from June 26 to 28 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus.

The congress, an honors-only program, is designed for high school students aspiring to become physicians or enter the field of medical research. The event aims to honor, inspire, and motivatae top students from across the nation, helping them stay committed to their dreams of medical careers.

Xaviar’s nomination was endorsed by Dr. Mario Papecchi, a Nobel Prize winner in Medicine and the Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.

He was selected to represent Vermont based on his academic achievements, leadership potential, and his dedication to serving humanity in medicine.

During the event, Xaviar will have the opportunity to engage with other similarly motivated students from around the country.

The program includes discussions led by Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science winners, advice from Ivy League and top medical school deans, and personal stories from patients who have benefited from advanced medical practices.

Participants will also explore the latest advancements and future trends in medicine and medical technology.
