KENNEBEC — The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to residents about a scammer falsely identifying himself as Deputy Chad Hendricks and claiming to represent the office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, several individuals have reported receiving calls from someone using the name Deputy Chad Hendricks.
The caller tells them they have missed federal court appearances and requests money to prevent their arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there is no Deputy Chad Hendricks employed by their department and that it is not their practice to solicit money in exchange for canceling arrest warrants.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious calls to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
The office cautions the public never to provide personal information or make payments to unsolicited callers claiming to represent law enforcement.
