NEWMARKET — A local man was arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession of child sexual abuse images, the Newmarket Police Department announced Thursday.
Devan E. Chick, 37, of Newmarket, was taken into custody on April 19 after a collaborative investigation involving the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office, and local law enforcement partners.
The investigation, which began on April 10 after authorities received a tip, led to Chick being charged with five class “A” felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse images under RSA 649-A:3-a.
Following his arrest, Chick was released on $2,500 cash bail in accordance with RSA 597:2.
He is scheduled for arraignment on June 20 at the Brentwood District Court.
The Newmarket Police Department and the Newmarket School District are working together to address the situation.
At present, there is no indication of any other individuals involved or local victims in relation to this case.
